Frequently Asked Questions

I'm LDS, does bodytalk go against my religion?

The LDS church in their policies and procedures manuals state that it is ok to use alternative healthcare if it meets the following requirements.  1- The practitioner is certified and had to go through a certification process. 2- There must be at least two articles in peer-reviewed journals supporting the efficacy of the treatment modality.  3- Educate yourself and use the spirit to discern if it is right for you,

BodyTalk meets the above requirements and standards of the LDS church.  Many BodyTalk Practitioners are LDS themselves.

What is BodyTalk?

BodyTalk is a very simple and effective holistic therapy that allows the body's energy systems to be re-synchronised, helping to restore its ability to heal and fix itself. Your body is designed to heal itself. When all the parts and systems of the body communicate with each other, healing happens naturally. Through stress or illness, these lines of communication start to break down, leading to a decline in our physical and emotional wellbeing. The BodyTalk System is a very simple and non-invasive way to quickly identify and restore communication breakdowns in your body's energy systems, accelerating the healing process and helping prevent future illness. BodyTalk's holistic approach is the key to its long lasting results. It addresses issues of the mind, body and spirit, dealing with the 'bigger picture' of a health issue, rather than just focusing on the shorter term relief of symptoms.

BodyTalk was developed mainly out of personal necessity in the 1990's by Dr. John Veltheim, an Australian chiropractor, acupuncturist, philosopher and teacher. The System combines Western medical experiences, acupuncture, osteopathic and chiropractic theory, applied kinesiology and the insights of modern physics and mathematics.

What Is a BodyTalk Session like?

During a BodyTalk session you will remain fully clothed, while lying on a treatment table or sitting in a comfortable chair. Sessions usually last 30 - 45 mins and every session is unique for each client, based on their bodies own priorities. All sessions are confidential and BodyTalk does not diagnose anything, so there's no need to worry about what might come up during a session. Only the issues your body is ready to deal with will come up as a priority. Each bodyTalk practitioner has their own unique skill set besides their training in BodyTalk,  It is reccommended that you try various BodyTalk Practitioners so you can experience which practitioner has the skill set that best fits you.

How does BodyTalk work?

BodyTalk uses a technique called neuromusclar biofeedback (muscle checking), that uses the arm to establish a Yes/No communication with your body.Using a protocol chart, a practitioner will ask your body a series of questions to identify what is a priority for you at that time. When we have established what parts of your body need to be re-synchronised, a series of simple techniques and light tapping are used to restore communication within the body so it can heal and fix itself.  A BodyTalk Practitioner has been trained on how to be expert listeners and communicators with the body.  They use structural intuition.
